Learning Objectives

  • To observe diffraction effects with visible light and with microwaves, and to understand why that implies that light is a wave phenomena.
  • To understand how diffraction sometimes produces maxima and sometimes produces minima.
  • To be able to calculate the regions of constructive and destructive interference due to diffraction from a single slit.
